Winter in Obergurgl
In Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, lift lines are virtually unknown and the runs never crowded. Top snow conditions are guaranteed from mid-November to the beginning of May when superb corn snow and plenty of sunshine ensure a first-class skiing experience!
110 km of super ski trails
The Obergurgl-Hochgurgl winter sport area has a total of 110 kilometres of ski trails (about 54 km in Hochgurgl and 56 km in Obergurgl), comprising 35 km of easy trails (blue), 55 km medium (red) and 20 km difficult (black).

Snowmaking in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Snowmaking is available on 90 % all the ski trails in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl up to an elevation of 3000 m. That is another reason why it is known as “the resort with the most reliable snow cover in the Alps”. The snowmaking system is computer controlled for automatic operation whenever conditions (temperature and humidity) permit. The area has five weather stations that feed the system with the necessary data.
Top Mountain Star
A mountain experience of a special kind is to be had in the Top Wurmkogl Ski Area in Hochgurgl – thanks to the Top Mountain Star, an observation platform complete with Panorama Bar with its futuristic architecture at an altitude of 3080 meters above sea-level. The new summit lodge, which is designed to blend in with the surrounding mountain peaks, offers spectacular all-round views of the Ötztal Alps and as far as the distant silhouette of the famous Dolomites. The lodge offers an exciting combination of unique mountain scenery and rare culinary delights. The Top Mountain Star can also be hired for private parties with a difference – a highlight in the literal sense of the word!
Cross-country ski trails
The active winter holiday and fitness offering also includes 12 km of cross-country trails. Obergurgl has a 7 km trail and 3 km practice trail, and Hochgurgl a 2 km high-level trail. Cross-country ski tuition is available at the Obergurgl and Hochgurgl ski schools.
Winter walks
There are fine walks by the cross-country trails and through the stone pine forest from Obergurgl to Schönwieshütte – a total of 12 kilometres in a winter wonderland with invigorating mountain air.

Ski passes
Ski passes (for 2 days and above) can be purchased from the reception. Reductions (children, senior citizens) are available on presentation of a photo ID. Children up to the age of 8 go free and reductions apply up the age of 16! Senior citizens aged 60 and above are also entitled to a reduction.
Ski passes are issued on hands-free data carriers (Keycards). The deposit of € 2 is refunded on return of the undamaged Keycard.
Illuminated ski trail for evening skiing!
Enjoy a unique skiing experience – evening skiing on an illuminated trail! You can ski the 8 km down the illuminated trail from the top station of the Festkogl cablecar to the bottom station or right into centre of the resort. That is skiing with a difference!
